Celtic Cross Layout

The Celtic Cross is the most well-known tarot spread and also the largest layout available here, involving ten dominoes. This layout begins with a pair of crossing dominoes at the center of the issue, essentially being two significators. When two significators are involved, they may strengthen or oppose each other, which speaks of the nature of the situation. Above and below the initial cross, we have two dominoes which are symbolic of the intellectual (top) and emotional (bottom) basis of the issue. The Before and After dominoes show the past and immediate future.

At the right, four dominoes are laid out, going upward. At the bottom you have a domino representing yourself, and the next domino shows how others may affect the situation. Card #9 indicates what you may be hoping for, or possibly, what you hope will not happen. Finally at the top is the outcome, meaning the distant or ultimate future.

The Significator represents what the main theme of the reading deals with, the initial situation.

One/Three

Generally a good sign, this indicates that malignant spirits have left you. Your ails will subside, and your plans will be fulfilled.

The Crossing Domino denotes an added impulse that compounds the initial domino, whether complimentary or contradictory.

Blank/Blank

The Double Blank is perhaps the grandest of dominoes. This domino often symbolises a major change. It is the domino of fate, destiny, providence, and karma. Several new paths will open for you, and you are spiritually and intellectually ready to take them on. However, if this domino is drawn in a single-domino reading, it simply means to ask the question again at a later time.

The Crown stands for what the asker is aware of consciously.

Five/Six

If you work steadily and carefully, the results will be good. Avoid fickle thoughts which dissipate mental energies. Travel and giving will be beneficial. Offerings to natural spirits such as ancestors and trees is beneficial, and performance of spiritual practices will have a heightened effect if not performed at their regular location.

Foundation domino reveals unconscious driving forces that the querent may not be aware of.

Two/Four

This is a bad omen of instability and obstruction. There is danger from enemies and evil spirits. A red article or triangular object you have acquired may be causing you harm. A person in the western direction may be responsible. Obstacles are blocking your success. Only evil activities have good prospects for success.

The Recent Past represents past events and concerns.

Two/Five

Spontaneous strength arises from within, like wind fuelling the fire. Dreams and fantasies lead you to your correct path. Activities of power and destruction have great potential when used in accordance with a higher power. More offerings should be made to your spiritual protectors. Results will be good for what you wish to achieve, though works involving water will only be mediocre.

The Future depicts that which lies ahead.

Blank/Five

Now is a time to strengthen your family ties. You may even want to consider having a child. Your family life should take precedence. Works involving spiritual communication with ancestors will be tremendously beneficial.

The Querent represents the asker and their attitude towards the subject of the reading.

Three/Five

Who is capable of catching a piece of paper in the wind? This sign suggests dissipation and energy wasted on small things. Thoughts are scattered and the mind is too distracted to focus well. Advice will not be taken, and you would be better off to perform a ritual to stabilise your thoughts, even if it is difficult.

External Forces represents the influence of others in your life as well as trends in your relationships with others.

Five/Five

This sign indicates a growth in popularity. There may be fighting, but you will be victorious. Fame may yield fast wealth or fortune in smaller scattered pieces. If dispelling ghosts, you will be successful if you offer small gifts such as tea.

Hopes and Fears shows the expectations you have concerning the outcome of your question.

One/Two

The eye of transcendental wisdom shall open. The advice of a good friend should be followed, and this will prove very beneficial. Scrying rituals will be fruitful.

The Outcome of your question. Interpret this domino in the context of the entire reading and as an indicator of the path you are currently on, but not necessarily bound to.

Six/Six

The sign of 'The Stainless Sky' suggests you should listen carefully to the spirits of the air. Your mind should be cleansed of impure thoughts. This sign also suggests that to retain friends or wealth, small offerings should be made. Generally, this is a neutral sign.
